Dear Nick,

My middle name is Scott. It is from my mother’s side of the family. My favorite book is the one I am working on now. I have finished the Martin Bridge series, but I still visit schools to talk about him. If you are seven years old, then I am older than you. I’m very glad to hear that you love Martin Bridge. Also, I really like your fish drawings.

Dear Alexis,

I’m very glad to learn that your entire Grade Two class likes Martin Bridge. I can tell that you must be an excellent cheer leader. I never did cheer leading when I was little but my mom told me that she could always hear my voice overtop of everyone else’s at the playground!

Missing the Bus

My house is slanted because it is over 140 years old. It has survived two hurricanes! I think your drawing of Martin with his rocket is terrific. I also like your story idea where Martin misses the bus, then runs to school, only to discover that the school is closed for the day. Good one!

I am very well, thank you for asking. My absolute favorite colour is red. I have red walking shoes, a red briefcase, and a red coat. Even the room where I write is red! What have I been doing for the last few days? I’ve been working on a new picture book about a girl who likes to draw hedgehogs.

How many Martin Bridges are there?

When I worked on the Martin Bridge series, I completed two books per year. There are eight books in total, so it took me about four years to complete them all. I’m so glad to read that your hero is your family. Family is so important! Maybe you can write about them someday!
